Six Years of Tracz Consulting: A Walk Down Memory Lane

Six years ago, Tracz Consulting was born with deep industry knowledge and a drive to fix a gap in the market, which I saw as contingent workforce consulting. Fast-forward to today, and we’ve had the privilege of working with enterprise organizations, staffing suppliers, extended workforce technology providers, and private equity firms, helping them navigate the often murky waters of non-employee management, vendor management system (VMS) selection, managed services provider (MSP) strategies, direct sourcing strategies, workforce compliance and much more.

Along the way, we’ve seen it all: RFP processes that resembled scavenger hunts, staffing suppliers who needed a roadmap to win more business, and technology providers trying to stand out in a crowded VMS space. And yes, we’ve built some genuinely transformative workforce programs. But none of this would have been possible without the excellent partners, clients, and industry peers who have trusted us to champion the extended workforce space.

Did we mention that Cheryl Tracz was honored as the 2024 Pioneer Entrepreneur at the Women of Work (WOW) Awards?  Now, let’s look at how Tracz Consulting has helped organizations like yours—and why you might want to share this post with someone who needs it.

Enterprise Organizations: Making Contingent Workforce Programs Smarter

If you’ve ever tried to launch a first-generation contingent workforce program, you know it can feel like assembling IKEA furniture without instructions. That’s where Tracz Consulting steps in.

Take, for instance, the time we helped a federal savings bank implement its first internally managed contingent workforce program using VNDLY as its VMS. We didn’t just give them a software login and wish them luck—we worked alongside their team to provide project coordination, process documentation, executive training, policy development, training, and critical change management. The result? A smooth transition to a structured, compliant, and scalable program.

Or consider the scientific member society that wasn’t sure whether they needed an MSP or an internally managed program (IMP). We led them through the decision-making process, guided them through VMS selection, contract negotiations, and full VMS implementation in just five weeks. Later, we helped them tackle independent contractor compliance, ensuring their Freelance engagements didn’t expose them to misclassification risks.

When an aviation and IT firm needed help integrating independent contractors into its existing VMS and MSP program, we provided change management communications, process documentation, and executive-level guidance to ensure seamless adoption.

Do you see a pattern here? Tracz Consulting isn’t just about selecting technology—we ensure your non-employee workforce strategy works and is adopted.

Staffing Suppliers: Winning More Business, Scaling Smarter

The competition in the staffing world is brutal. Winning an MSP or enterprise contract requires more than a good reputation—you need a strategy.

One technology staffing firm needed to expand its service offerings to become an MSP. Tracz Consulting stepped in, refining its operational design and proposal strategy. The result? Five new clients in just one year—and much more revenue.

Another IT staffing firm in the Asia-Pacific region was looking to scale its hybrid support solution for a large client. We helped them integrate VMS technology and a sub-vendor management process, leading to 10% revenue growth in 2019 and projections exceeding 20% in 2020.

We’ve also worked with staffing suppliers advocating for better program operations within MSPs. One supplier engaged us to help communicate concerns about program gaps to their client and MSP. Instead of getting lost in corporate bureaucracy, their insights led to an entire program evolution project, cost-saving measures, redefined supplier KPIs, and improved MSP SLAs.

Technology Providers: Helping VMS, EOR, and AOR Platforms Stand Out

Let’s be honest: the extended workforce ecosystem is vast! New entrants often struggle to gain traction in a landscape dominated by well-known Vendor Management Systems (VMS), Employer of Record (EOR), Direct Sourcing partners, and Agent of Record (AOR) providers.

Tracz Consulting worked with a newcomer in the VMS market to help them navigate product positioning, client onboarding, and supplier engagement. By implementing a structured onboarding roadmap, referral network expansion, and supplier enablement strategy, we helped them increase adoption, strengthen relationships with staffing suppliers, and improve sales conversions.

Similarly, we worked with an EOR provider to streamline their independent contractor onboarding and management processes, ensuring they had a scalable, compliant solution while educating their teams on competitive market trends.

If you’re launching—or struggling to scale—an extended workforce technology solution, Tracz Consulting can help you refine your strategy and land enterprise clients.

Private Equity: Making Smart Investments in the Contingent Workforce Space

Investing in contingent workforce providers comes with risks—compliance, operational inefficiencies, and market positioning challenges can turn a high-potential acquisition into a high-liability headache.

One private equity firm engaged Tracz Consulting to evaluate a top 10 IT staffing provider merger. We conducted an extensive operational and sales benchmark analysis, ensuring the firms had the proper structure, resources, and growth strategy to sustain their newly combined ranking.

Another PE firm needed to assess compliance risks across multiple portfolio companies in tech, healthcare, and finance. With increasing regulatory scrutiny on worker classification, we conducted a risk assessment, process benchmarking, and compliance standardization, ultimately identifying $10M in cost-saving opportunities while reducing misclassification risks.

And for those considering an EOR or AOR acquisition, Tracz Consulting has provided detailed financial and operational due diligence, ensuring investors have the insights needed to make informed, strategic decisions.
